More Christmas Fun

The day after Christmas was probably the nicest day to be outside. Well for any normal kids it would be. Natalie didn't seem to mind but she was constantly moving on her new scooter and skates. Harper on the other hand turned into a total diva. She said and I quote "it to bwite (bright) and to cold momma". So inside she went.

This was more Harper's idea of a good time. Loads of play-doh and long naps.

And this was the bid kids idea of a good time. Kid-free, wings and beer at BWW. Then a quick trip to one of the best stores in KY to buy craft beer. We came out with quite the haul!

Christmas Recap

We had a wonderful time in KY for Christmas. Once again, the girls were spoiled beyond belief. Santa brought the girls a new scooter and bike plus lots of other (mainly Frozen) goodies.

We started the trip with Christmas Eve at Nan's.

Frozen was the them this year for sure :) We have new dresses, talking Olaf, skates, shoes, slippers, books, dolls. I could give the Disney store a run for their money.

Natalie's first pair of skates. Between and the scooter she better learn some coordination REAL QUICK!  Her little legs look like twigs sticking out from these big ol' skates.

Harper's first pair of heels.  I'm not quite convinced this one will have the shoe obsession her big sis does, but that may be a good thing, at least for Byron's bank account.

The hit of the evening by far was me singing karaoke. I mean look at Nat's face as I sing "Let it Go.."

Christmas morning Natalie woke us all up, naturally. She's my early riser. Harper didn't appreciate that too much but a few gifts changed her tune.

Santa brought the girls and Byron Nerf sets. If Harper ever realizes these actually fire "bullets" he may be in trouble. For now she's content wearing her glasses and making a "bang bang" sound.

Natalie loves playing our neighbors Minnie Mouse guitar and Santa brought both girls one. We can start a band!

Meatloaf the Bulldog has been a big hit too. Santa may have to bring another one next year, or a golden retriever.
We headed over to Granny's later that day for more family fun, then to a Nana's a couple days later. I don't have many pictures. It seems like everytime I get to Granny's there is just so much chaos my camera is the last thing on my mind.

It was a great time. We even had some adult time and went out to eat with Nathan and Lynnley at BWW before coming home and playing marbles.

The Little Things

The things that keep my kids entertained for hours never cease to amaze me. A few empty boxes, empty paper towel holder and bottles of paint and they were so amused "shooting these through the mail slot" as Nat called it.

Because you can never eat just one...

Annual Trip to Bass Pro

We had kinda procrastinated on the whole "let's go see and sit on Santa's lap" thing. Saturday we got there early (or so we thought) at 10:00 but didn't to get to see the big man until 12:30. Nothing like entertaining two little ones for 2 hours in Bass Pro, but we managed it. And although Harper didn't sit in his lap, she didn't cry either. I call that progress :)

The first thing Natalie HAD to do was shoot the guns.

We spent a lot of time "driving" all the 4-wheelers and boats too.

Of course I found the arts and crafts table which killed a good 20 minutes or so.

Our official 2014 Santa picture. Natalie asked for a new Barbie, and Harper meekly replied with Mickey Mouse and pizza. We may be eating pizza Christmas morning for breakfast!

Christmas Party Time!

Both girls had parties last week. So after some last minute momma-made teacher gifts, two batches of cookies we were ready to rock-n-roll.

Natalie's was first and as room mom, I felt obligated to go. Good lord every time I step into that room I'm quickly reminded why God did not direct me to be a teacher. Bless their sweet little hearts :)

It was pajama/Polar Express Day. They were wound up tight and excited about all things Christmas.

 Natalie & Olivia

Kaitlyn, Olivia, Natalie and Amari peaking up in the back.
Harper's was Friday. I didn't get to attend that one, which is usually better. I think she has more fun without me around, or at least participates more often. I can't believe they got her to sit in Santa's lap too! Go Ms Bree!

We Have Decked the Halls

Christmas is on full swing in our house. After my last craft show Saturday I promised Natalie we would drag out our trees and decorate. And other than the dogs eating a couple of Natalie's ornaments, only one thing has been broken and it's nothing a little super glue won't fix.

Note to self: Buy H a tree for her room next year. She didn't like that Natalie had one in her room and she didn't.

Harper quickly got hungry and lost interest in actually putting ornaments on the tree :)

This little musical ice skater is by far their favorite. It plays music and the two figures dance around, but H broke the little boy dancer so it's been retired to a higher shelf.

This snowman however we have a love/hate relationship with. It cheers at you and goes off with the slightest movement. Needless to say it's been banned to playroom with the door shut.

Natalie really enjoyed getting the nativity out and placing all the figurines around and in the stable.

Castlewoods Food Drive

Byron and the girls went to help with the Food Drive in our neighborhood while I worked a craft fair last weekend. He was worried they'd get bored and cranky but that wasn't the case at all!

Kansas City Southern Holiday Express

I thought this would be fun to take the girls to BUT I had no idea how many people would show up for it. We got there at 5 and did not leave until 7:30 and we didn't even stay to get pics with Santa! It's definitely not something we will go to again. Maybe, MAYBE if I had a train-loving boy but my two (and Byron) were over it before it started. Lots of chips and dips and hot chocolate was promised while standing in line :)

We finally made it on the train.
